The marina, located just outside the city walls, is the departure point for daily excursions by boat to various caves in the area. Alghero and all its surrounding area is in fact renowned for its abundance of caves and inlets from ancestral times. The most famous, Neptune’s Caves, is located at the base of the imposing western cliff of Capo Caccia and can be visited both by sea and by land (by means of a long, steep staircase, the Escala del Cabirol).
